We are happy to welcome our guest Devika Kamboh, CFP®, CLTC, MBA, Founder and President at Sohum Global Foundation to In the Suite. This spiritual, fully energized, financial advisor took a risk right before the Coronavirus pandemic hit as she packed her full integrated life in bustling New York City and moved to a sprawling ranch in Colorado.

“Step out of your house. Go breathe in some fresh air, inhale and exhale three times consciously, and set out your intent and ask the universe for help,” Devika says.

Devika is the Founder and President at Sohum Global Foundation, Founder and Managing Partner of Sohum Financial Planning. She’s a Certified Financial Planner who empowers her clients to create a road map to guide themselves to financial independence and their real life goals.

“I realized that I need to bring balance not only to my clients’ lifestyles, but also to move them away from this unilateral focus on money,” Devika says. She explains that we sometimes forget that money is a means, it’s not the end.

“Pause for a second and understand that it’s the flow of energy, and so it should not stay stagnant,” says Devika. A river moves with the current, never staying still, accumulating over time as it lands in a collective waterfall. Money is a river that needs to carry from your hand to another hand. “Whether it is in terms of charitable giving, or whether it turns terms of buying something from a small business owner, your money has to flow.”

Sohum, in Sanskrit, means to be “One with the Universe.” In this episode, Devika shares how deliberate manifestation makes all the difference. The purpose of the journey isn’t to navigate life on autopilot, but to truly fly, to discover why you gravitate in a certain direction.

Devika’s roles at MetLife to Greenpoint Financial (now Capital One) in NYC all paved the path to where she is now at the Sohum Mountain Ranch. She’s making a difference in so many peoples’ lives. Here she empowers veterans and other special needs groups to embrace a unique combination of healing using principles of Yoga, Equine Therapy, and Ayurveda.

She also created the Digital Inclusion Project of the Sohum Global Foundation with the goal to improve representation for women and representation for women of color. The Soham Global Foundation is committed to supporting all efforts of nature conservation, and fostering safe environments for children and women at risk. Between her expertise and the foundation, they find themselves putting people on the path of mental and financial stability. We also learn more about her being the co-founder of the Digital Inclusion project, which benefits Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi.

Long before Coronavirus hit society, Devika’s clients were well prepared for virtual meetings and using remote platforms. Before Devika picked up and moved to her new ranch in Colorado, she and her clients started using remote technologies to complete business efforts and stay in touch with each other from her previous home and office, New York City.

After the hustle and bustle in New York City for 20 years, she realized that she wanted to bring balance to her lifestyle and to her clients lifestyle. It takes the intent and courage to be able to stand up for what you believe in and then make it happen.

“Have the courage to communicate your vision,” Devika says.

Devika will inspire you to listen to the universe, create a set of daily practices, and be open to a change or silver lining that you may be facing. Devika embraces three principles, and you should too:

  1. Stay in touch with your inner child: “Your inner child keeps you curious, alive, and gives you joy within every moment of your life.”
  2. Do a SWOT analysis of yourself: Do a self evaluation along your personal lines. Think about your personal strengths and weaknesses. Along with, the opportunities that your personality can take advantage of.
  3. Put yourself in the environment: Don’t keep yourself in a cage where you are less productive. Use your environment to your advantage and find a place where you can be the most productive than you ever have.
